Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Carrier Relations Procurement Specialist to manage relationships with carriers, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective and efficient transportation of goods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, logistics, and relationship management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May supervise junior team members or coordinate with other departments.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and select carriers based on capabilities, rates, and service quality
- Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers to ensure favorable terms, rates, and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers to ensure effective communication, issue resolution, and performance optimization
- Monitor and analyze carrier performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize transportation networks, routes, and shipping schedules
- Ensure carrier compliance with regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Handle claims, disputes, or discrepancies related to shipments, damage, or billing
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
- Generate reports and provide insights to management on carrier performance and procurement strategies

Required Skills/Abilities:*
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with transportation management systems (TMS)
- Knowledge of transportation industry regulations, practices, and trends
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or transportation, preferably in a carrier relations role
- Established network of carrier relationships is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with carriers or attend industry events
