Job Title: Food Buyer (Produce, Protein & Dried Goods)
Reports to: Director of Operations
Location: LIC and Bronx, NY
Position Summary:

We are a rapidly growing organization with an annual budget over $20 million, and we're growing our buyer team accordingly. The ideal candidate has worked with budgets of this size and enjoys the competitive nature of negotiations. Nothing excites you more than the thrill out of a good buy. We're looking for keen, aggressive, and (figuratively) hungry candidates that understand pricing dynamics in the food market and know how to squeeze sellers for the best deals on the best quality ingredients.

Success in this Role:
Onboarding Period:
You will hit the ground running from day 1, because you are a person who has to move fast. Every moment is an opportunity to you, so you'll bring your existing contacts from the tri-state food industry and be able to immediately start negotiating purchases. You'll maintain constant vigilance over market trends in food and know when to pull the trigger on any particular ingredient we need.
You'll get to know our Director of Operations, our head chefs, and our warehouse managers. They will constantly provide you with information on what our purchasing needs are and verify existing stock levels. You'll also learn our workflow processes to track purchases, vendor bills, and inventory levels.
3rd Month Goals:
By the end of 3 months, you will be fully acclimated to the purchasing workflows. You'll have grown your vendor relationships significantly, and even though you negotiate hard, they consider you to be one of their favorite buyers.
Your routine will begin to incorporate an iterative exercise to improve our operational and spending efficiencies. You'll be a crucial part of monitoring our food costs and cost of goods sold, working with our finance team to predict our spending and where cost saving opportunities are. You'll be very in tune with market trends and fluctuations.
1st Year Goals:
By the end of your first year, you'll proudly look back on all your purchasing wins, as well as all the efficiencies you created through waste minimization. You and your fellow buyers on the team will have a strong rapport and be well respected within the industry for your buying prowess.
And yet you'll still be hungry for more. There's always more ways to improve on quality and efficiencies. The biz dev team will make sure they continue our aggressive growth so that your purchasing power can expand, giving you even more negotiating leverage.

Must Have:
· Passion for food, negotiating, and winning.
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
· Strong analytical and negotiation abilities.
· 3+ years of relevant food buying experience in the Tri-state area
· Deep understanding of the food distribution industry.
· Attention to detial and excellent organization skills.
· Capacity to multitask to meet multiple demands and instructions coming from both the production facility and corporate headquarters.
· Strong communication skills-must have good listening skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
· Ability to self-motivate and problem solve in a fast-paced setting filled with hard deadlines.· · Must possess strong computer skills- will be working in our procurement and inventory management software.
Nice to Have:
· Experience with Fishbowl or any robust WMS systems specific to food.
Physical Demands:
Generally, presents standard office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position >95% of the time. Continually operates a computer, keyboard and mouse, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and mobile Smartphone device. Constantly positions self to comfortably maintain computer equipment. May occasionally be required to move about in an office setting or position office equipment weighing between 10-25 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

$85,000.00-$125,000.00/Annual commensurate with experience
