Summit Body has served the commercial truck and transportation industry in Portland for over 35 years, but these last few years we’ve been growing fast. In 2021, Summit acquired a Seattle-area service center, which repairs and refinishes all makes and models of medium, heavy duty, specialty, and fleet vehicles.

Our Body Shop Assistant is a vital member of the service team, helping triage repairs and gather needed supplies while jobs are in process. Working closely with the Summit Body team, this role assists with pickup and delivery of materials and vehicles, physical receiving of materials, and shop flow organization. This is a critical role to keep the service team moving forward on repairs, and keeping purchased materials organized by repair order. The ideal candidate has a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, has a attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and is clearly able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
This position provides a unique experience to learn the autobody repair trade from experienced repair technicians while supporting the team in completing timely repairs for our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Run local errands to accrue supplies as needed by Service Department
- Take daily lot inventory
- Physically receive and check in parts
- Stock shelves with stock orders
- Pull stock parts for over the counter sales
- Work with Service Supervisor to establish daily work schedule
- Stage trucks for repair and move repaired trucks to staging area.
- Monitor progress and completion of repair orders in the shop, and ensure parts returns are handled promptly
- Perform quality-control check, check out, inspect and photograph each vehicle after repairs are completed.

Qualifications
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug. Company performs random drug testing.
- Own transportation and valid driver’s license is required.
Work Hours
The Body Shop Assistant routine work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The workweek may expand up to 50 hours per week and/or Saturday overtime to meet customer demand.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
