JOB ROLES:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area(s) assigned to help students fulfill their potential for
intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the campus.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to use computers including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy
machine, and telephone.
- Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of
preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative
regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the
learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses the information to adjust teaching strategies
- Works with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
- Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
- Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
- Moderate travel is required.
