Position Overview: The Medical Assistant for Telemedicine will play a crucial role in facilitating virtual healthcare services. This individual will support healthcare providers by managing patient interactions, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth operation of telemedicine appointments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and has a strong commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers during virtual consultations by preparing and updating patient records.
- Manage telemedicine appointment schedules, including booking, confirming, and rescheduling appointments.
- Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
- Educate patients on how to use the telemedicine platform and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Ensure all patient information is accurately documented and maintain the confidentiality of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with pharmacies, labs, and other healthcare facilities to facilitate patient care.
- Assist in managing patient inquiries through phone, email, or chat, providing excellent customer service.
- Support healthcare providers with administrative tasks such as updating medical records, processing insurance claims, and handling billing inquiries.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay current with telemedicine best practices and technologies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of telemedicine protocols and workflows.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a medical assistant, preferably in a telemedicine or virtual care setting.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
- High level of comfort with technology and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
- Experience with patient education and engagement strategies.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
