The Social Security Intake Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals with the initial application process for Social Security benefits. This role involves interviewing applicants, gathering and verifying necessary documentation, providing information on benefits, and ensuring accurate and timely submission of applications.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in customer service, social services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with data entry and database management.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Smart Advocate
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to display sympathy
- Ability to manage spreadsheets
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Bilingual skills may be an advantage, depending on the community served.
- Must work on-site
