Position: Mental Health Clinician

Reports to: Mental Health Director, Lead Clinician

Scope of Practice
Licensed Clinical Social Worker Position Summary: To provide counseling, intervention and/or education to clients in a professional supportive manner.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Evaluate needs of clients and provision of diagnostic/preventive and treatment services including individual therapy.
- Create individualized care plans for each client.
- Provide clinically appropriate treatment based on mental health assessment and treatment plans.
- Participate in the referral of clients to community resources to help their specific situations
- Works in collaboration with other health/mental health professionals and provides consultation to the treatment team regarding patient/family social and environmental needs.
- Monitoring clients.
- Maintain records of treatments and services through Therap, Acentra Health, and other confidential platforms in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participate in planned supervision and case consultation.
- Participate in staff development opportunities offered to enhance professional growth, to maintain licensure, certification, or identified program performance skills.
- Provide services and conduct self in a manner consistent with the profession Code of Ethics.
- Respond to crisis situations in a professional and time sensitive manner.
- Provide discharge planning, coordinate aftercare services, and make referrals for other community services based on the treatment plan.
- May supervise other social workers/clinical counselors, case managers, daily living support staff, students, or other staff.
- Maintain confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.
- Comply with all State laws, MaineCare regulations, Program Integrity and mental/behavioral health regulations.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education: Master's degree in social work or clinical Mental Health Counseling from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or through the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).
- License/Certifications: Maine state licensure to practice as a LCSW, LMSW-CC, LCPC, or LCPC-C is required. Certification by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work or The Board of Counseling Professionals is required.
- Experience: 2+ years of work experience in a clinical health, behavioral health or mental health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of counseling theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well principles of social welfare
- Proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment and considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness, and disability.
- Compassion toward the needs of clients

- Standing – you may be required to remain on your feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time without be able to leave the work area
- Walking – this position will require walking throughout the facility in order greet or escort clients
- Carrying – this position will require, on an intermittent basis, carrying objects from one location to another
- Grasping – this position will require regularly picking up or utilizing objects with hands and fingers
- Reaching – this position will require reaching for objects with arms and hands
- Crouching – this position will require you to bend forward at the waist, legs, or spine
