As a Paraprofessional, you will work closely with licensed teachers and other professionals to provide support and assistance to students with special needs or learning disabilities. Your role will be instrumental in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with classroom management and behavior support, reinforcing classroom rules and expectations, redirecting students when necessary, and providing support to students with behavioral challenges.
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students who require additional assistance or accommodations, including one-on-one instruction, adapting materials and assignments, and implementing specialized strategies or interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students.
- Attend meetings, provide input on student progress, and assist with data collection and documentation.
- Facilitate classroom activities, such as group work, projects, and hands-on learning experiences.
- Assist with daily routines, such as transitions between activities, lunchtime, and recess.
- Provide assistance with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as needed.
- Monitor and report student progress, behavior, and performance to the supervising teacher or other professionals.
- Maintain student records and documentation.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred).
- Previous experience working with students with special needs or learning disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational software and tools.
