OVERVIEW
Responsible for performing routine to senior-level account maintenance, bookkeeping, and clerical accounting work such as accounts payables and/or receivables.
PRIMARYDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Processes payroll, prepares payroll reports, and processes payment of payroll invoices.
· Compiles, records, and reconciles accounts and financial transactions.
· Posts information and balances general and subsidiary ledgers and accounts.
· Processes payments and/or billings.
· Performs accounts receivable duties.
· Compiles monthly closings and annual reports.
· Maintains accounting and financial records.
· Processes journal vouchers.
· Researches account issues.
· Coordinates with department managers and staff to procure needed supplies, materials, and equipment.
· Processes new-hire employment forms.
· Audits budgetary and expenditure documents.
· Gathers statistical data and prepares worksheets and reports.
· Explains accounting and financial procedures to employees and the public.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
· High school or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
· Two (2) years of clerical accounting, bookkeeping, or specialized administrative experience.
· Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications.

Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Accounting Specialist position reports to the Director of Finance. This position does not exercise supervision of other staff.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
