Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades Kindergarten through 12 to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous yet flexible online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through curriculum choices and virtual and in-person tutoring and counseling. ECCS targets underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

QUALIFICATIONS:*
- A passion for education and a belief that your zip code does not dictate your destiny.
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree in Education or School Counseling
- PA teaching certificate: School or Guidance Counselor
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
- Minimum of two years experience in an urban setting with high percentages of ELD and SPED students.
- Best practices for online teaching and learning and digital curriculum development
- Ability to communicate well in a group/team environment
- Ability to craft well-written, data-rich reports
- Able to build relationships with students and families
- Current FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse background checks

RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Build capacity in understanding counseling programs and how to apply best practices.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues and school leadership.
- Participate in IEP, ESL, SAP, At-risk, and other programs as needed.
- Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Enrollment, Promotion, Retention
- Support enrollment by evaluating transcripts or report cards to place students in appropriate classes and grade levels.
- Assist and delegate/supervise course enrollment in the SIS.
- Communicate to school staff student enrollment, orientation dates, and courses enrolled.
- Evaluate end-of-year course grades to assist in the identification of students promoted or retained.
- Assist high school students in graduation and post-secondary planning, follow up year-to-year to gather data on post-secondary plan compliance; assist 8th-grade students in the transition to high school.
- Teaching Guidance Courses
- Develop and implement a K-12 Guidance Curriculum, aligned with PA best practices.
- Design, develop and implement an online College, Career, and Community course that is safe, functional, and motivates students to engage in the learning environment.
- Assist with developing learning modules that support the Get Future Ready class, aligned to Future Ready Index measurement.
- Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request
- Show mastery of the content taught.
- Evaluate the growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
- Communicates with parents and families
- Collaborates with other classroom teachers
- Identifies student needs and collaborates with other educators and school leaders in assessing, instructing, and helping students meet other academic goals of the program.
- Uses appropriate supplemental and intervention curriculum and materials that align with student’s skills deficit areas in reading to provide literacy support.
- Uses technologies in the teaching and learning process.
- Consistently assesses student growth through outcome measures.
- Be involved in the school culture and community beyond the classroom, such as leading after-school activities or clubs, planning Fun Zones, and field trips, or assisting in marketing and other school functions.
- School Programs and Initiatives
- Establishes and maintains compliance with local, state, or federally mandated programs to support guidance/counseling issues (mandated reporter, teen pregnancy, crisis/trauma, drug, alcohol, and suicide prevention, anti-bully, homeless children, pre-K partnerships, etc.).
- Assists with management and implementation of the At-Risk and Student Assistance programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:*
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
- Constant hand, finger, and arm use, and excellent eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
- To occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing stairs.
- To occasionally stand for extended periods.
- Ability to see and perform visual activities such as closing paperwork, using a computer monitor, reading, and writing.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to come onsite for all required days.
