The Evaluation and Learning (E&L) team at the Children’s Law Center (CLC) is responsible for leading and overseeing all activities related to data collection, reporting and research and evaluation for the organization. Specifically, the E&L team manages and supports the case management system used by CLC’s legal program staff (Legal Server), works with program staff and leadership to ensure data quality, reports on program performance and leads research and evaluation efforts to document program implementation and outcomes.
The Evaluation and Learning Coordinator leads special projects and supports program monitoring by analyzing data and developing reports for program directors. For example, the Evaluation and Learning Coordinator leads the collection and analysis of client satisfaction surveys and builds program performance dashboards. The Evaluation and Learning Coordinator helps maintain and optimize CLC’s case management system, responds to staff’s inquiries about the system, generates reports and monitors data quality and integrity. The Evaluation and Learning Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Director of Data and Evaluation.

Serve as an administrator of CLC’s case management system, Legal Server.

Respond to staff members’ Legal Server technical support inquiries.

Facilitate Legal Server training for staff and develop training materials and resources for staff (e.g., frequently asked questions document, microlearning videos, tip sheets).

Conceptualize customizations and improvements to Legal Server to meet data collection requirements and enhance the user experience.

Prepare and submit data for reporting requests as well as for grant, contract and funding reports.

Develop and generate reports from Legal Server for internal use by program leadership and staff (e.g., timekeeping reports, policy flag reports, intake and referral reports).

Analyze data from Legal Server to help inform program planning, development, implementation and assessment, particularly in support of grant proposals for new funding opportunities.

Develop and update program performance dashboards and data visualizations in Power BI to help program leadership oversee program implementation. Regularly review reports and dashboards to proactively identify data inconsistencies and issues. Make recommendations to program leadership and the E&L team for resolution, including additional reporting to program leaders, new visualizations and dashboards and staff training.

Work closely with program leadership to lead activities related to grants management, contract reporting and invoicing, including identifying and routinely coding legal matters appropriately to different funding sources.

Lead evaluation projects (e.g., program logic models, client satisfaction survey, client feedback work, audit of pro bono cases).

Develop and maintain project workplans and timelines.

Lead internal projects to document organizational and strategic initiatives and collect feedback from CLC staff.

Use data collection and analysis methods to support evaluation projects (e.g., interviews, focus groups, surveys, observations, etc.).

Manage distribution of client and staff surveys, track responses and analyze survey results, when applicable.

Summarize evaluation findings in internal memos and external reports for CLC staff, clients and stakeholders.

Support equitable research and evaluation approaches and facilitate engagement with clients, families and other stakeholder groups, as appropriate.

Attend and represent E&L team at internal and external meetings with program leadership and partners.

Proven project management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, each with different timelines.

Strong critical and analytical thinking skills.

Experience with other analytical software, particularly R, strongly preferred.

Prior experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization software preferred.

Prior experience working with a legal services organization, non-profit setting preferred.

Experience using case management systems, in a legal services organization, non-profit, or law firm preferred.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or certification in relevant field (e.g., sociology, psychology, political science, economics, policy, etc.) with coursework in data analysis, performance monitoring and evaluation, and/or applied research, for example, preferred.

3-6 years’ relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, applied research and/or related field.

Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Advanced data analysis skills in Excel (e.g., generating pivot tables, writing complex formulas, visual basic for applications (VBA), macros).

Experience in data visualization and interpretation of graphical representations of data.

Qualitative and quantitative data analysis experience.

Knowledge of program evaluation methodologies (e.g., developing surveys, analyzing survey responses).

This process incorporates skills and techniques, including recognizing points of conflict, identifying the facts and feelings involved to get to the root of the issue, investigating equitable solutions, implementing and evaluating solutions, and supporting and guiding others throughout the process.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $55,000-$65,000 annually based on relevant experience. Hybrid Working Conditions
Children’s Law Center is currently operating on a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to work in-person from Children’s Law Center’s office a minimum of two days per week. At least one of these days must be either Tuesday or Wednesday. The hybrid work schedule is subject to change based on organizational needs and/or best practices for health and safety. Hybrid work expectations may vary depending upon role responsibilities.
