The CMM Programmer is responsible for inspecting parts to part print specifications and engineering requirements utilizing appropriate inspection methods. This includes CMM programming utilizing Hexagon Metrology PC-DMIS, documenting proper inspection methods and reporting of results internally and on a global basis. This role requires strong critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Inspects parts to part print specifications and engineering requirements using CMM and other inspection methodologies.
- Programs CMM’s to part print or MBD CAD requirements.
- Documents procedures and proper inspection methods for mechanical parts.
- Collects, analyzes and, reports on inspection results for global use.
- Performs all assigned inspections of product, including but not limited to CMM inspection.
Skills & Experience:
- Working knowledge of Customer provided media: PO, blueprints and specifications.
- Working knowledge of the principles behind customer acceptance, flow down requirements, process specifications.
- 5+ years of experience as a CMM programmer/inspector in a manufacturing environment utilizing PC-DMIS software.
- Advanced applied/industrial metrology understanding. (Gage usage and inspection methods.).
- Advanced geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) skill.
- Understanding of AS9102 and / or other relevant First Article Inspection processes
- Works well independently and in a team environment.
- Possesses critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills.
- Possesses a keen eye for details to spot inaccuracies and poor quality in all documentation.
- Experience working in an AS9100 regulated environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to use and read measuring devices to include but not limited to calipers, micrometers or height gages.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of PolyWorks a plus.
- Experience with Aberlink software.
Academic Requirements:
- High School Degree; Further qualifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand up to 8 hours per day uninterrupted.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
