Caretakers are responsible for maintaining the health, safety and comfort of all of our 4-legged guests and some customer interaction. Must follow all company policies and procedures.
Primary duties will include:
- Leading, monitoring and managing groups of dogs
- Using verbal cues, body blocking, and proactive intervention to manage group interactions
- Spending time interacting with each dog individually and knowing their limits, play styles, and help signals
- Initiating activities and games with dogs to keep arousal levels low while everyone has fun
- Recording and reporting accurate info on the status, activities, health, and behavior of each dog to pet parents and the Daycare Manager
- Assisting with handling guests (dogs) at check-in and check-out
- Greeting new clients (people) and explaining the program and the benefits for their dog
- Cleaning/sanitizing play areas, common areas, and crates
- Documenting, storing and organizing guests' food, medications, and belongings
- Preparing and distributing meals, treats, fresh water, and medications (if needed)
- Washing dishes and laundry
Qualifications:
- Passion for animal care and providing fun activities for dogs
- Positive attitude and friendly disposition
- Attentive, observant, and detailed oriented
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Physically able to secure and handle large dogs
- Physically able to clean and perform minor maintenance
- Preference for candidates with previous work experience with dogs; only highly experienced candidates qualify for the higher end of the pay range
