Patrick Industries is looking to add a Quality Engineering Director to its growing team. In this role you will be responsible for defining and implementing quality standards within various manufacturing facilities at Patrick to ensure that all raw materials received are up to company standards thus ensuring that Patrick continues to provide customers the best possible products!
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Work with management to establish quality & production/performance standards, goals, measures and metrics
- Effectively define, implement, and educate production staff in various facilities on quality metrics and track performance against targets
- Develop vendor scorecards to ensure that raw materials received are up to the standard of quality expected within the facility thus reducing the amount of defective raw material taken into inventory
- Lead Quality Meetings that include Trending, Statistical Analysis, Corrective Action, Planning & Status, and communication of new initiatives.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis of quality issues to identify risk factors and implement corrective action to prevent future recurrence
- Manage large scale organizational change including quality projects and initiatives to drive Quality within Patrick at large
- Work closely with engineering and management to establish quality inspection processes and procedures that ensures quality standards are met at various stages throughout Production.
- Act as the point person for controlling and maintaining quality related documentation, communications and maintaining any applicable schedules and training.
- Conduct quality audits throughout the operation according to established schedules with proper documentation of all assessments and findings.
- Maintain warranty and return information involving the analysis of returned product.
- Communicate with management and any relevant outside vendor(s) regarding quality initiatives, required training and developed corrective actions.
- Develop a solid understanding of wood-based products including the manufacturing processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive Quality related experience
- Manufacturing Industry experience required; Wood products or Automotive Industry preferred
- Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing required; Lean Certifications preferred
- Proven experience in project planning/management tools and techniques, lean and visual tools and methodologies driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Successful demonstration of applying continuous process improvement mindset that drives improved efficiencies and cost reduction while placing a premium on safety and quality.
- Experience analyzing and resolving complex technical problems relating to operational considerations.
- Possess results-driven mentality with excellent self-management and organizational skills.
- High level of technical, critical thinking, problem solving and analytical reasoning skills.
- Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of external professionals and in-house staff.
- Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness while balancing changing priorities and challenges.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and product and process databases (knowledge of Manufacturing ERP system is a plus).
