About Collegiate Village:
Spread out over 50 acres, Collegiate Village is a gated community for students providing spacious, apartment-style living for all Buffalo area colleges and universities. We house students from University at Buffalo, Buffalo State College, Daemen, Villa Maria, D’Youville, Canisius, ECC & more, providing shuttles to many of these campuses. Our apartments are fully furnished and include cable, wireless internet, and all utilities, aside from electric, allowing our residents to experience a convenient and stress-free living experience. The Residence Life department is committed to enhancing and promoting a positive campus-like experience with the benefits of apartment living. The Residence Life staff prides themselves on providing a range of services to the residents of Collegiate Village; these range from sponsoring fun, informative and social events to various levels of support for students in need of personal, academic, social or apartment lifestyle guidance. The Residence Life Staff is present both during and outside of office hours, making them an essential part of assisting Management in applying the lease rules and regulations consistently to ensure the quiet enjoyment of the premises by all residents.
Director of Residence Life Job Description:
The Director of Residence Life is an essential part of the Residence Life team. Reporting to the General Operations Manager, the Director is responsible for overseeing the Residence Life Team which is made up of Residence Life Management, Community Assistants, Front Desk and Cleaning staff. The Director does this while working to foster a sense of community within Collegiate Village and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to personal well-being and learning. The Director also handles the administrative and operations aspects of the office. The duties of the Director include, but are not limited to:
Foster a Sense of Community within Collegiate Village and Maintain an Atmosphere Conducive to Personal Well-Being and Learning:
- Be well-informed of Collegiate Village policies, procedures and regulations while being able to communicate and enforce them.
- Manage disciplinary processes and lease violation follow up.
- Manage Safety Precautions throughout property, including Pool Safety and AED maintenance.
- Manage Reasonable Accommodation requests from current and prospective residents
- Oversee programming model and event facilitation. Manage programming budget and obtaining supplies.
- Assist in development and execution of Lease Renewal process.
- Respond to student questions, emergencies, problems and concerns.
- Member of Administrator On-Call rotation, alternating weekly.
- Act as a positive role model for residents and staff.
Oversee and Develop Residence Life Team
- Have knowledge of Residence Life roles.
- Plan and execute training for the Community Assistants, Front Desk and Residence Life Management staff.
- Lead staff meetings, providing up to date information regarding CV while developing staff both personally and professionally, conducting ongoing evaluation of performance.
- Prepare Residence Life office and On-Call schedules.
- Organize and Manage Part Time Staff Selection Processes.
- Host one-on-one meetings with Residence Life Staff monthly.
Manage Residence Life Office
- Oversee Administrative tasks, including key systems, final inspections of apartments and Move In/Move Out processes.
- Utilize project management system to oversee staff functions.
- Participate in all relevant staff training and mandatory events, such as CV Open House and Move in Days.
Maintain a Safe, Beautiful, Well-Maintained Property
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure the property is always in excellent condition.
- 40 hours per week.
- Weekend availability may be needed during peak move in and move out season.
- Other tasks as assigned by the General Operations Manager.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs (preferred). Bachelor’s Degree (required). Enjoy working as part of a team, hardworking, open-minded, good natured, and likes to laugh.
Compensation: Salary Position of $50,000 per year and participation in company benefit package. This position does offer the option to live On-Site. If you choose this option, the role will include a fully furnished apartment with free streaming cable, wireless internet and electric.
