DOG TRAINER & BEHAVIOR CONSULTANT
See Spot Run is seeking an experienced certified dog trainer to join our team full time.
Job Description: Primary responsibilities include client instruction (mainly on-site at our West Humboldt Park facility), scheduling, and follow-up communication. Additional responsibilities include dog training and behavior modification in the context of board and train or day training programs, participation in some dog-dog assessments and socialization, and some routine office duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of courses at a dog training academy (in person or online) and/or apprenticeship under experienced trainer
- Current or anticipated credentials (CPDT-KA, CPDT-KSA or CBCC-KA preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience with client instruction
- Desire to be a team player and contribute to a mutually supportive work environment
- Experience handling and training a wide variety of breeds/types
- Familiarity with a broad range of training tools/methods, including traditional and reward-based
- Commitment to ongoing education in training and behavior
- Commitment to LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) principles
Bonus Skills/Qualifications:
- Dog sport competition experience and/or titles
- Experience with behavior work, assessment, and consultation, including aggression cases
- Spanish speaking
- Retail experience
- Social Media genius
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Experience:
- professional dog training: 4 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- dog training or behavior consulting certification (Preferred)
