Job Summary:
Coordinates and manages the District Technology Plan, the Technology Department computer services, and network communications to accomplish district mission, goals and objectives. Maintains both department and district budgets for technology.
1. Implements District School Board and Administration vision and policies to assure compliance with applicable regulations, while encompassing industry standards, best practices and efficiencies to take full advantage of the district network. Designs the network to carry out that vision.
2. Oversees the operation of the Douglas Network and maintains security of the information systems equipment.
3. Develops, plans and implements training of Technology Department and Building Technology Support Staff on network use and integration of technology.
4. Responsible for the development, implementation, and review of the District Technology Plan including the hardware rotation cycle and plans for system upgrades. The District Technology Plan is developed through collaboration with district staff; the document includes an annually updated Action Plan that supports various project objectives, curriculum goals, and district-wide technology needs.
5. Oversees proper maintenance of department records and inventories, including but not limited to: network use, IP addresses, electronic mail accounts, software, and hardware. Responsible for work order management system (Ivanti) monitoring and oversight.
6. Responsible for the development, implementation, and review of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
7. Develops and implements a process of hardware, software and infrastructure acquisition decisions to insure comprehensive evaluation of products and selection to support current mission.
8. Provides documentation, permission, and cross training for multiple department staff to perform all critical tasks (including but not limited to: email accounts, firewall/website unblocking, campus management, wireless configuration and other network infrastructure and building support).
9. Responsible for completing annual E-Rate application and facilitating implementation.
10. Complete all state mandated technology related reporting.
B. POLICIES
11. Assists in developing, interpreting, and administrating Board of Education policy related to staff and student technology use (“Acceptable Use Policy”) that complies with state and federal laws.
C. PERSONNEL:
12. Works as a team member with supervisor, district administrators, technology department, and staff district maintenance personnel.
13. Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all Technology Department personnel; and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and release.
14. Supervises technology personnel and develops employee work schedules based on project priorities.
15. Conducts meetings as appropriate including regularly scheduled meetings with the: department, building tech support staff, building administrators and Executive Director of Operational Support Services, and Technology.
D. BUDGET
16. In conjunction with the Business Manager and the Executive Director of Operational Support Services, and with input from district administrators, and building representatives, submits Capital Outlay plans that provide technology to meet the needs of staff and student district wide.
17. Compiles, implements and revises a hardware rotation cycle and monitors a district-wide inventory.
18. Develops and manages a department budget to support district hardware and network operations.
E. OTHER
19. Monitor necessary periodicals and sources to identify changes that may affect district compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and recommend appropriate changes.
20. Provide for his/her professional growth and that of other technology support personnel by attending training, seminars, and workshops as deemed appropriate.
21. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of Operational Support Services/Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer/ Information Technology or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of a variety of operating systems, network hardware (server, switches, hubs, routers, modems), and web page development recommended.
- Three to five years of experience working with computers/networks recommended [an equivalent combination of education and experience may be determined acceptable].
- Work requires written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to motivate a team to produce quality work within timeframes and to manage numerous on-going projects is required.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
