LifeGift is currently looking for a Family Engagement Interpretive Specialist
Do you possess the attributes to be a successful Family Engagement Interpretive Specialist and perform the following essential functions?
The FEIS assists the Family Engagement Specialist (FES) by providing interpretive professional services to advocate for donation and support families through the donation process. The FEIS collaborates with hospitals to foster an environment where all donor families are offered the opportunity for donation.
- Professional interpretive services for Donation Advocacy and Donor Family Support are provided primarily by face-to-face interaction and phone/video conferencing as needed.
- Bridge the gap in communication between the FES, family, and the healthcare team by identifying any cultural gaps which may interfere with understanding, while ensuring complete understanding between all parties.
- Assists FES in translating and delivering high quality bereavement support to potential donor families. Assists FES in assessing family dynamics and, as appropriate, works with FES to initiate timely integration, intervention, and support.
- Provides onsite interpretive services when family presents for OR, including presence for honor walks, flag ceremonies and commemoration activities.
- Refers donor families to LifeGift’s Donor Family Support and will provide grief resources as requested and appropriate.
- Assures that quality standards are met for adherence to LifeGift policies and procedures.
- Completes required training and submits appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
Do you have the education and experience to be a Family Engagement Interpretive Specialist?
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in communication, health sciences, social work, nursing, counseling, related field, or significant equivalent experience in another Organ Procurement Organization (OPO).
- Experience in healthcare with interpretive services, bereavement or pastoral counseling, or social work preferred.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
This role requires frequent travel and ability to commute to different hospital partners within our service area
