Position: QSLA Program Coach

Department: MAOF R&R

Salary: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Reports To: Program Director and/or Supervisor

GENERAL PURPOSE

The QSLA Program Coach will be providing technical support in the implementation of the quality improvement/professional development coaching components of the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) programs.

Quality Start Los Angeles, the QRIS system being implemented in LA County, is a partnership between the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE),), First 5 LA, and the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles (CCALA) and member R&R agencies. Working in partnership, they are continuing to build a system of assessing and improving early care and education quality for LA County. The QRIS coaching program continues building on the Gateways for Early Educators? professional development system offered at the childcare Resource & Referral (R&R) agencies throughout Los Angeles County.

The QSLA Coach will provide quality improvement/ professional development coaching to the CSPP and Infant Toddler Coaches within the MAOF CCALA/R&R caseload. With the purpose to provide support and guidance with the Hubbe database and other related concerns with the implementation of the Quality Start LA. The QSLA Program Coach will deliver effective coaching support consistent with the Quality Continuum Framework, Rating Matrix and QSLA program. This will require in-depth knowledge of rating tools and elements and quality improvement strategies for effective teacher-child interactions and childcare environments, practices, and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weekly review of the Coaching logs to ensure that visits are logged into the Hubbe database.
Review of the QIPs, work with coaches on the use of the templates, establish SMART goals for the sites
Ensure that case information is uploaded as needed to meet program compliance.
Attend monthly meetings virtual or in-person as required by CCALA.
Provide site based QSLA Program Coaching and implement the coaching program for eligible CCALA QSLA sites per the Scope of Work.
Provide site-based professional development and/or quality improvement coaching and implement the coaching program.
Support the CCALA QSLA programs, working closely with all collaborative partner R&R agencies to ensure effective and consistent countywide implementation of QSLA coaching.
Maintain project compliance through knowledge of the QRIS contract, Scope of Work.
Maintain effective communication with CCALA and R&R agencies, collaborative partners, participating sites and others to ensure effective program implementation and achieve project deliverables.
Assist QSLA Supervisor and CCALA Coaching Coordinator in the preparation of timely, accurate reports to funders as needed.
Participate in events as needed to help maintain CCALA and QRIS visibility with funders and other current and potential stakeholders.
Attend designated community meetings and other meetings, as needed.
Support the R&R program with workshops/training and other assignments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree is required; master?s degree, or equivalent experience, preferred in child development, early childhood education, or related field.
Minimum of 1 year as a Program coach or similar field
A minimum of 3 years of experience of relevant experience including working with children in early childhood education setting.
Bilingual ? Spanish & English required.
Experience with quality improvement programs with a strength-based approach.
Knowledge, understanding, and experience with quality rating tools such as CLASS and the Environmental Rating Scales (ERS). Training to reliability preferred.
Familiarity with California Child Development Permit and Quality Continuum Framework ? Rating Matrix.
Knowledge, understanding, and experience with child observation tools such as the ASQ-3, ASQ:SE, and the DRDP. Strong working knowledge of the Los Angeles childcare delivery system and childcare provider population. Direct experience working with center-based programs and/or family childcare providers.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with diverse client populations.
Previous experience demonstrates effective decision-making skills and ability to work autonomously with multiple sites.
Effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to successfully meet position requirements.
Effective problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience and comfort working with adults and facilitating supportive coaching conversations and encouraging professional growth and learning.
Ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels of an organization and work cooperatively as part of a team with colleagues and with staff from different agencies.
Ability to be flexible, innovative and adapt to the changing needs of the program, department and agency.
Strong computer skills and the ability to enter coaching data as required.
Ability to travel by airplane, vehicle, train, as required.
Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the programs.
Must possess own vehicle, a current/valid California Driver?s License and at minimum, general liability automobile insurance.
Ability to travel to provider sites in Los Angeles County to provide in-person site support.
Must have updated immunization records (MMR. Tdap & Flu shot).
