JOB DESCRIPTION
The Water Treatment Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a range of processing equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, water treatment systems, maintaining solution balance, collecting samples, recording data, retrieving sample data, handling potentially hazardous chemicals safely, monitoring and controlling water and slurry flows, adding reagents, and overseeing the operation of pumps, valves, piping, and other equipment. They will also be required to make calculations and adjustments as necessary to ensure that operating parameters remain within specified limits.
Essential duties include:
- Supervise and manage the daily operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and company policies.
- Maintain and operate processing equipment, including pumps, valves, piping, and more.
- Provide technical guidance on operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient water quality and recovery.
- Handle various chemicals safely, including lime, chloride, caustic, and mercury, adhering to safety protocols.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards within the treatment plant.
- Oversee employees to ensure compliance with operational, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members to report plant conditions and any necessary adjustments.
- Continuously monitor plant conditions and make adjustments to protect equipment and maintain optimal operations.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports and logs on meter readings, tests, chemical usage, and other required records.

- Manage the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and company policies.
- Provide technical expertise on operating protocols to ensure safe and efficient water quality and recovery while meeting production demands.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Handle a variety of chemicals safely, including lime, chloride, caustic, and mercury.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and cleanliness of the treatment plant.
- Perform mechanical tasks within the scope of training and skills.
- Operate small front-end loaders, forklifts, skid steer loaders, and dozers as required.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections and equipment pre-operations.
- Plan and conduct assignments involving significant projects or multiple projects.
- Oversee the documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and training materials.
- Monitor and manage the budget for the water treatment department, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Coordinate the procurement of necessary supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Ensure timely ordering and inventory management.
- Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operation of the treatment plant.
- Evaluate and identify training needs to promote continuous improvement and professional development.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Specific skills and experience are as follows:
- 5 to 10 years of reverse osmosis experience, with 3 to 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent experience in water treatment/reverse osmosis.
- Professional certification in water treatment or a related area (e.g., Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in managing a water treatment facility, including operational and administrative tasks.
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment, including the ability to perform solution balance, sample collection, and data recording.
- Proficient in handling hazardous chemicals safely and managing potential risks.
- Experience in a supervisory role at a water treatment or reverse osmosis facility.
- Preferred experience in microfiltration.
- Surface MSHA and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
- Ability to travel up to 50% during peak seasons (spring and fall), with 10% travel during other times.
- General understanding of mining operations preferred.
- Basic computer and technology skills required.
- Willingness to engage in frequent travel, including air travel.
- Capable of performing strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Capability to navigate rough terrain and climb stairways, catwalks, and pads.
- Willingness to perform general labor tasks, including shoveling and working at heights.
- Experience operating small front-end loaders, dozers, and lifting equipment is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
