Position Overview:
The Assistant Project Manager for the Special Projects Team in the Design Services Group plays a crucial role in the successful management and delivery of engineering and infrastructure projects. This position involves defining project scope and schedules, allocating resources, and providing technical support to a team of professional staff members. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading communications with project teams and stakeholders, ensuring all activities are overseen effectively, and addressing any issues promptly. Additionally, this role includes helping other teams within Design Services and other departments, conducting various studies, and preparing and presenting staff reports. The Assistant Project Manager also helps administer Housing Program special Task Orders and supports emergency outfall maintenance and rehabilitation contracts, as well as infrastructure projects such as parking lots, roadways, sidewalks, and trails.
Job Duties and responsibilities

Assist with consultant procurement and manages internal and external resources to adequately staff the project.

Identify and address risk to schedule, budget or performance with the respective project managers and engage.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction management from an ABET-accredited college or university.
Experience
-
Minimum three (3) years of Design Experience related to horizontal projects such as site development, roadway & bridges and/or drainage construction projects.

Knowledge in designing sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic or pedestrian signals, and all related supporting infrastructure.

Experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D in the production of construction documents/plans. Military services are an applicable field is acceptable.

Ability to drive a county vehicle to various job sites as needed to accomplish tasks and projects

Full-Time | Regular | 40 hours per week

Hybrid schedule: Three days in the office and two days working from home.

Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.
Salary:

Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.
Physical Demands and Environmental Exposure:

Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting, or operations command center environment, but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event).

This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs., frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs.
